Exploring the Future of Sustainable Electric Mobility Solutions

NCube embarked on an Auto-Rickshaw design research journey with the aim of developing user-centred solutions for both current products and future electric mobility offerings. Two distinct approaches were explored: one emphasizing simplicity, functionality, and strength, while the other embraced a modern, futuristic, and experimental styling with a focus on functionality. This comprehensive research initiative spanned across Delhi and Pune, shaping the foundation of innovative and user-centric design of Lohia Auto.

After researching 61 Auto Rickshaw drivers and few passengers from Delhi and Pune, we have concluded on these findings:

Qualitative analysis of 61 Auto Rickshaw Drivers revealed preferences for Bajaj among settled drivers and TVS/PIAGGIO among the younger demographic. Drivers expressed interest in app integration, improved passenger comfort, and vehicle upgrades. Passengers favoured cabs due to perceived safety and comfort concerns. Their suggestions for Autos enhancements included safety features and better design. The research led to two design directions: “Simple, functional and strong” and “Modern, futuristic and experimental,” influencing the production aspiration of modern styling with functionality. The resulting design solutions, Airavat and Pratham, prioritise essential features for interior and exterior improvements.
